Anthony Richardson has had a tumultuous 2024 season with the Indianapolis Colts.

The former Florida Gator was benched in favor of veteran Joe Flacco after struggling mightily. After Flacco struggled in his own right, Richardson was inserted back into the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

With less than a minute remaining, and the Colts down 27-22, Richardson had a chance to put his team ahead. On 3rd-and-goal, Richardson took matters into his own hands and rushed to the outside for a 4-yard score.

The score put the Colts up 28-27 with under a minute to play. The team failed a two-point conversion to make it a 3 point game, but it didn’t matter as the Jets were unable to get in field goal range and the Colts held on to win.

On the day, Richardson finished with 272 passing yards and 1 TD. The QB also added 2 scores on the ground, including that go-ahead score. Richardson didn’t throw any INTs, but he did lose 1 fumble.

With the Colts winning in Richardson’s return, the team should be hopeful that the young QB can build some confidence. The team moved to 5-6 on the year with games against the Lions, Patriots, and Broncos next on the schedule.

Richardson was a 1st round pick of the Colts in the 2023 NFL Draft. The QB threw for 2,549 yards and rushed for 654 more for the Gators in 2022.
