Keelon Russell and Alabama enter Saturday against Texas A&M looking to end a two-game losing streak. There is big pressure in Tuscaloosa, and the freshman quarterback is trying to make big plays for the Crimson Tide.

However, that aggressiveness came back to hurt Russell this time, as a wild scramble play for him turned into an interception for Aggies defensive back Dezz Ricks.

Russell’s scrambling ability is one of the traits that separates him from other quarterbacks, but this play came back to hurt the Crimson Tide. The Aggies were able to get a field goal off their ensuing drive, tying the score up at 17 points at the half.

Interceptions have been a theme in this game, as Aggies quarterback Marcell Reed also threw two interceptions in the first half.

For the Crimson Tide, this is a game they absolutely have to win if they are going to remain in the College Football Playoff race. To win this game, they are going to need the big plays from Russell, but also are going to need him to avoid the big mistakes like in this instance.

Let’s see how Alabama responds in the second half.
