Arch Manning pokes fun at himself for tunnel fall before Week 1 game

Arch Manning showed he can bring some humor into a press conference with reporters that was meant to be kind of serious with, you know, one of the potential games of the year coming up on Saturday night.
But the Texas star quarterback flashed that Manning sense of humor that is prevalent with his family of quarterbacks, as he spoke on Monday with reporters about an incident that had nothing to do with this weekend’s showdown with Ohio State and nothing even to do with last Saturday’s Week 1 shellacking of Texas State.
Instead, it was all about the Manning fall that occurred before the season opener, as smoke was filling up the tunnel and as Manning tried his best to get through the smoke and onto the field. But the smoke took over, and Manning took a fall that went viral.
“Yeah, it was definitely a little bit of a shock. I was definitely thrown off. It’s hard to see in that smoke, it’s a little deceiving. But it’s good, get my first hit before the game starts … and get ready to roll,” said Manning with a wry smile on his face as laughter filled the room of reporters.
Obviously, the tunnel fall didn’t stop Manning from carving up the Texas State secondary on Saturday, throwing for 305 yards and 4 touchdowns in the 59-7 rout. Now, Manning can get ready for the Buckeyes in his same home stadium in Austin, so perhaps in addition to studying the Buckeyes’ defense he can figure out a way not to fall, assuming that same smoke is present this Saturday night.
Manning will lose the levity and be all business this Saturday night as the Longhorns face Ohio State in what promises to be one of the games of the year. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the primetime clash in Austin and who has the better chance to prevail:
