Arch Manning throws 4 touchdown passes as Texas cruises past Texas State

Arch Manning and the No. 5 Texas Longhorns are back, and it was a good season debut for Steve Sarkisian‘s squad.
The Longhorns are 1-0 on the year after dispatching Texas State 59-7 on Saturday. Manning was great in his first game of the 2026 season, throwing for 305 yards and 4 touchdowns with 1 interception.
Auburn transfer WR Cam Coleman looked pretty good out there, too. He scored the first touchdown of Texas’ season, hauling in this 7-yard fade from Manning:
Coleman led Texas in touchdown receptions with 2, but he wasn’t Texas’ leading receiver on Saturday. That honor goes to Ryan Wingo, who totaled 7 receptions for 121 yards and 1 touchdown. Here’s a great angle for Wingo’s touchdown near the end of the first quarter.
Best WR duo in the country?
Texas had a strong run game on Saturday, though the Longhorns were a little inconsistent in that arena. As expected, Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown led the ways, combining for 104 yards and 3 touchdowns — the vast majority of Texas’ 156 rushing yards of production on the evening.
Texas’s competition takes a considerable step up in competence next week. The Longhorns are set to host Ohio State in what could be the most important regular season game of the season.
