Arkansas on Sunday gained a commitment from one of the top players in the Natural State, as first-year head coach Ryan Silverfield looks to make his mark on the program.
Eli Thornton, a defensive lineman from Jonesboro, Arkansas, has committed to the Razorbacks. Thronton revealed the news on his X account, opting to make the call for the Hogs a few months earlier than his original commitment date of July 4.
Thornton is massive, weighing in at 315 pounds. He is ranked by 247Sports as the state of Arkansas’s No. 4 overall recruit. Along with Arkansas, Thornton’s offers include Arkansas State, Illinois, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Thornton becomes the seventh 2027 player to pledge to the Razorbacks. Their biggest recruit of the cycle, thus far, is Oklahoma’s Odaefe Oruru, the nation’s No 19 interior OL.
Below, you can take a look at Thornton’s junior year highlights from Hudl:
Silverfield is looking to turn the fortunes of an Arkansas program that was just 2-10 in 2025, with the university parting ways with Sam Pittman five games into the season.
After Bobby Petrino took over on an interim basis for the remaining 7 games, Silverfield was hired to the role full-time after a 50-25 record at Memphis.
