Arkansas fans reportedly planning to protest Ryan Silverfield hiring

Arkansas was in the mix to hire Alex Golesh over the last few days, with some even reporting that he would take the job.
However, that all fell apart on Sunday, and now Golesh has been officially announced as the new head coach of the Auburn Tigers. That led to the Arkansas Razorbacks pivoting and hiring Memphis coach Ryan Silverfield.
At least some Arkansas fans aren’t happy with AD Hunter Yurachek about that, though. Per social media activity on Sunday morning, there is a planned protest outside of an athletic building on campus this afternoon.
Here’s some of the chatter about the protest:
Famously, Tennessee Volunteers fans successfully protested their school’s plans to hire Greg Schiano a few years ago. Of course, that led to the disastrous Jeremy Pruitt era on Rocky Top.
With all the coaching carousel movement in the SEC on Sunday, let’s hypothetically say these fans are successful and Arkansas changes course on Silverfield. Who should be next in line?
Jon Sumrall is now at Florida. Golesh is at Auburn. Is there another name out there that would make Hog Nation happy? We’ll see what kind of protest takes place in Fayetteville this afternoon and what the next steps are for the Hogs.
