Arkansas loses 2027 commitment from Oklahoma OL in flip to OSU

Arkansas was reminded of the rough reality in recruiting that verbal commitments are non-binding. The Razorbacks lost a member of their 2027 recruiting class on Wednesday.
Odaefe Oruru pledged to Ryan Silverfield‘s program on April 10. On Wednesday, however, he shared that he is now committed to Oklahoma State. For Oruru, from Jenks, Oklahoma, the opportunity to stay close to home was too much to turn down. He voiced appreciation for the Arkansas staff in his social media post announcing his flip to OSU.
“After thinking about what I really want out of my college experience, I realized I want to stay home and play for my state,” Oruru wrote.
“Oklahoma is home. I’ve grown up here my whole life, and having the opportunity to represent my state and play at the next level means a lot to me and my family.
“I have a lot of respect for Arkansas and their staff, and I’m thankful for the belief they’ve had in me throughout this process.
“At the end of the day, 1 wanted to play for my state. I’m staying home and I’m ready to be a Cowboy.”

Oruru is rated 3-stars, the No. 12 player in the state of Oklahoma, No. 28 interior offensive lineman and No. 486 prospect overall in the Class of 2027 on the 247Sports Composite. After the flip, Arkansas sits at 23 commitments with the No. 40 class nationally on the Composite.
