Arkansas quickly filled a vacancy on its men’s basketball coaching staff after assistant Clay Moser shared on social media that he stepped down from the Razorbacks.

Eric Musselman promoted Anthony Ruta to assistant coach after 3 years as director of basketball operations. Ruta has helped Arkansas reach back-to-back NCAA Elite 8s and post an SEC-best 73 wins over the past three seasons. Overall, in his 7 years at Nevada and Arkansas, the programs have won at least 20 games all 7 times while playing in each of the last 6 postseasons contested over the span.

โ€œWe are excited and fortunate to have Anthony make this progression on our staff,โ€ Musselman said. โ€œHis tireless work ethic and overall basketball knowledge led us to hire him both as director of operations and assistant coach at Nevada and then again here at Arkansas. Anthony has proven himself time and again in every facet from scheduling, recruiting, player development and on-court instruction. He has been an integral part of our teamsโ€™ successes as well as developing our philosophy and terminology. He has built strong relationships with our players and has done a phenomenal job representing the University of Arkansas and Razorback basketball these past three years.โ€

Moser on social media wrote, “Razorback Nation… Thank you so much for the amazing, exhilarating, lifetime memories over the past 3 years, 2 Elite 8’s, All-Americans, All-Conference Performers, Freshman of the Year, 6th Man of the Year, All Defensive Team Members, Conference Player of the Year, NBA Draft Picks (more on the horizon), Lottery Pick (more on the horizon), Historic Wins, Unprecedented Recruiting Success, College Degrees (more on the horizon) and Covid Survival.
