Ashton Jeanty through 6 games is putting together a season that resembles what Barry Sanders did during his time at Oklahoma State.
The Boise State RB has rushed for 1,248 yards and 17 touchdowns while helping the Broncos get off to a 5-1 start. His fast start has put Jeanty right there in the race for the Heisman trophy.
His top challenger may be Travis Hunter, who made some noise last week when he talked about Jeanty and the Heisman race. Jeanty responded to Hunter with YouTuber Deestroying, giving the Colorado star praise for the talent he is while still acknowledging the reality of his own achievements to this point in the season.

โKudos to Travis, heโs balling for real,” Jeanty said. “Heโs doing some stuff we ainโt ever seen nobody do. Personally, I donโt take no offense to it. Heโs just speaking his opinion, everybodyโs got an opinion. For me, what Iโve been doing hasnโt been done in 36, 37 years, so thatโs something special. If I keep that up and break a record thatโs been around for 36 years, I feel like you canโt really compete with that.โ
If Jeanty is able to stay on the same pace he has through his first 6 games, he would get to 2,496 yards and 34 touchdowns, which would be the 4th most ever in a season.
The Broncos are the favorite of the non-Power 5 teams to make the College Football Playoff, and he has a chance to continue building that resume Friday night against a good UNLV team.
