More information has been released about an accident that saw Georgia senior safety Richard LeCounte come away with a concussion and a bruise to one of his ribs, not long after the team flew in from Lexington after their game against Kentucky on Saturday.
According to DawgNation, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department said in a statement that LeCounte’s dirt bike hit a vehicle that was pulling into a gas station.
“After the motorcycle dirt bike LeCounte was riding hit the car turning left, it went into the oncoming lane and was struck again by another oncoming vehicle,” DawgNation reported, according to the statement.
LeCounte sustained a concussion and a bruise to one of his ribs, remaining in a local hospital as late as Sunday evening. The injuries, fortunately, are said to be “non-life-threatening”, and while it’s not clear how long he will be out, it will be at least “a few weeks” before he can return, according to initial reports.
Georgia plays Florida on Saturday at 3:30 pm ET on CBS.
