Auburn adds first commitment of 2028 cycle from in-state QB

The Auburn Tigers added their first commitment of the 2028 cycle on Saturday, landing a pledge from 3-star quarterback Sam Sollie. He’s set to start his junior year of high school at Gadsen City, and chose the Tigers over offers from Alabama, Kentucky, Mizzou, Florida, Florida State and Tennessee, to name a few.
Sollie hails from Gadsden City high school in Gadsden, Alabama and stands at 6-foot-3, 187 pounds. He originally started his career at Westbrook Christian School.
It appears Sollie has been an Auburn fan his whole life, too, which would explain the early commitment. He posted the following video to his Instagram announcing his commitment, which shows him as a small child in Auburn gear and his football journey up to his commitment:
It’s still very early and recruiting rankings are to be taken with a grain of salt to begin with, but Sollie is considered to be the No. 611 overall prospect in the Class of 2028. He’s also considered to be the No. 44 quarterback in the 2028 rankings and the No. 21 player out of the state of Alabama.
Sollie represents Alex Golesh’s 2nd high school QB commitment since he’s been at Auburn. The Tigers received a commitment from 2027 QB Gary Chatman Jr. in May.
