The Auburn Tigers earned a home-state commitment in the 2027 class, landing former Gadsden Southside (Ala.) offensive lineman Rance Brown.

Rivals reported that Brown, a 3-star prospect according to 247 Sports Composite, committed to Auburn over Kentucky. North Carolina, Arizona and Duke were also among the programs interested in securing Brownโ€™s services.

Brown, a 6-foot-6 rising senior who is transferring to Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy for 2026, is ranked as the 86th-best offensive lineman and the 41st-best prospect in Tennessee.

โ€œRepresenting my last name in my home state is everything Iโ€™ve ever dreamed and worked for,โ€ Brown told Rivals.

Brown primarily played left tackle at Southside last season and projects as a player who can offer a tackle-guard flex in zone-heavy schemes.

Auburn now has seven 2027 prospects committed, including 4-star prospects in running back Myson Johnson-Cook, offensive tackle Layton von Brandt and defensive lineman Donivan Moore.

The Tigers are transitioning from former coach Hugh Freeze to Alex Golesh, who was hired away from USF. Auburn begins the Golesh Era in 2026 with four straight home games โ€“ against Baylor on Sept. 5, against Southern Miss on Sept. 12 before SEC play begins with Florida on Sept. 19 and against Vanderbilt on Sept. 26.
