Amaris Williams is switching sides in The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry.
After 2 seasons at Auburn, Williams entered his name into the transfer portal. On Thursday, he told Hayes Fawcett of On3 that he is transferring to Kirby Smart‘s Georgia program to continue his college career.
A Clinton (North Carolina) High School product, Williams was one of the most sought-after recruits in the Class of 2024. Out of high school, he was rated 4-stars, the No. 1 player from North Carolina, No. 6 edge and No. 62 prospect overall by the 247Sports Composite. After being committed to Florida, Williams flipped to Auburn and signed, which was a big recruiting victory for Hugh Freeze at the time.
As a true freshman, Williams made 10 appearances. He registered 6 total with 1.5 TFLs, including half of a sack, in his debut season on The Plains.
This past season, Williams took a big step forward. The 6-2, 260-pound defensive end played 11 games on the edge, recording 16 tackles. He had 6 TFLs, good for 4th on the team.
Williams will face his former team in 2026. Georgia hosts Auburn at Sanford Stadium on Oct. 17, Week 7 of the season.
