Myson Johnson-Cook, a coveted running back in the 2027 recruiting class, as reportedly chosen Auburn as his collegiate destination.

Rivals reported Saturday that Johnson-Cook, a 4-star prospect from East St. Louis (Ill.) High School, committed to Auburn over offers from Ole Miss, Miami, Ohio State and Illinois. He was recruited to the Plains by running backs coach Larry Porter.

Ranked No. 46 nationally in the 247 Sports Composite, the 6-foot-2, 235-pound Johnson-Cook is ranked as the fourth-best running back in his recruiting class. Johnson-Cook completed his junior season at East St. Louis with 126 carries for 1,341 yards (10.6 YPC) and 20 touchdowns. He also runs track and has turned in wind-aided 100-meter times of 10.30 and 10.33 seconds.

Johnson-Cook is just Auburnโ€™s third commitment in the 2027 class, joining Bessmer City (Ala.) defensive lineman and fellow 4-star recruit Donivan Moore along with Brooks County (Ga.) tight end George Lamons Jr.

Auburn is rebuilding after making yet another coaching change, hiring former USF coach Alex Golesh after the 2025 season to take over for the fired Hugh Freeze.

The Tigers begin the 2026 season with four straight home games, starting with Baylor on Sept. 5.
