Auburn is a finalist for a quarterback recruit from California as it looks to add to its 2027 recruiting class.

Chance Thomas, ranked as the No. 42 quarterback in the country by 247Sports, has the Tigers in a final three that also includes Kansas and Utah. Thomas, who will commit on Monday, revealed his finalists to 247’s Riley Alberts on Thursday evening.

Thomas had a stellar junior season at Western High School in Anaheim. He threw for 3,327 yards and 33 touchdowns versus just seven interceptions. He also ran for 734 yards and seven touchdowns on 94 carries.

Auburn currently has five players from the 2027 recruiting class committed to the program as of Thursday. Headlining the list is Myson Johnson-Cook, the nation’s No. 4 running back, along with top 20 defensive lineman Donivan Moore.

As far as 2026 is concerned, Golesh will have his quarterback from South Florida, Byrum Brown, in the fold on the Plains as the North Carolina product heads into his final collegiate season. Golesh also added former Oregon State QB and former four-star recruit Tristan Ti’a to the quarterback room, along with another ex-USF signal-caller in Locklan Hewett.

Meanwhile, here’s a look at Thomas’s junior year highlights from Hudl:
