With the transfer portal opening up in a couple weeks and coaching changes happening all over the map, treading water personnel-wise has become the name of the game.
Such is certainly the case at Auburn, as new head coach Alex Golesh has made headlines both positive and negative for the amount of transfer-portal attrition his program has already undergone since he took over in late November.
And on Sunday, Golesh & Co learned that another starting player would be entering the portal, as defensive back Kayin Lee revealed his plans to transfer according to On3Sports’ Pete Nakos.
A junior out of Ellenwood, Georgia, Lee had been a productive member of the Tigers’ secondary over three years. The 5-foot-11 defensive back produced his most productive season in 2024, when he tallied 32 total tackles, 7 pass breakups and a pair of interceptions.
Lee tacked on 31 total tackles, 4 pass breakups and one more interception as a junior, and he even forced a fumble as a true freshman in 2023.
A former 4-star prospect as rated by 247Sports, Lee also held offers from the likes of Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss and Tennessee coming out of high school.
