Auburn is working on the 2026 recruiting class, and Hugh Freeze landed another playmaker for the cycle on Monday.
The latest pledge comes from Eric Perry, a quarterback out of DeSoto Central High School in Mississippi. Though technically a quarterback, Perry is rated as an athlete by the 247 Sports Composite and likely projects into a running back or wide receiver at the next level.
Perry committed to Auburn over other offers such as Jackson State, Murray State and North Alabama.
Perry is listed at 6-feet and 195 pounds as a 3-star athlete for the 2026 recruiting class. He has been a dual-threat QB throughout his high school career, though his work as a ball carrier is what drew the highlights in the 2024 season.
He rushed for 880 yards with 11 touchdowns last season while also throwing for 866 yards and 4 touchdowns. Perry has a total of 1,600 rushing yards across the past 2 seasons and 18 rushing touchdowns.
The addition of Perry brings Auburn’s recruiting class up to 8 hard commitments so far for the class of 2026. That group is currently ranked just 41st nationally per the 247 Sports Composite with plenty of room to improve. The Tigers finished with a top-10 class each of the last 2 seasons, and it is important for Freeze and his staff to keep those results rolling.
