The 2026 Auburn Tigers may as well be called the 2025 South Florida Bulls. Auburn has already hired South Florida’s head coach, Alex Golesh — and numerous other Bulls’ staffers — this offseason. Now, they could be adding South Florida’s quarterback, too.

Early Saturday morning, On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong both logged predictions for former Bulls signal-caller Byrum Brown to land with the Tigers. Auburn will reportedly host Brown, who led a top-5 offense in college football in Tampa, on Saturday afternoon.

Nakos and Wiltfong both put their confidence level in Brown joining the Tigers at 60%.

Brown played under Golesh at South Florida for 3 seasons (2023-25). Last year, he threw for 3,158 yards, 28 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He also recorded 1,008 rushing yards — on 5.8 yards per carry — and 14 rushing touchdowns. In the process, the Bulls averaged 40.5 points per game, the fifth-most in the country. While South Florida was lighting up the scoreboard, Auburn was posting a paltry 18.5 points per game in SEC play.

The Tigers haven’t won more than 6 games in a season since 2019. If Golesh can bring Brown to town, there’s a great chance that will change in 2026. Auburn’s first game under Golesh comes versus Baylor at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Sept. 5.
