Auburn starting CB, 2024 SEC All-Freshman selection to reportedly enter transfer portal

Auburn is likely to lose a talented member of its secondary after 2 seasons on The Plains.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports, per a source, that Jay Crawford is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Thamel notes that Crawford would be one of the top available cornerbacks.

Out of Lilburn (Georgia) Parkview High School, Crawford was a 4-star prospect. He picked up 33 scholarship offers in his recruitment, electing to sign with Auburn.
Crawford made an immediate impact in his first season at Auburn, making the SEC All-Freshman Team and receiving True Freshman All-America recognition from On3. He started 8 games in his debut season, logging 15 total tackles including 13 solo stops. In coverage, Crawford posted 7 pass breakups and 1 interception as a true freshman.
This season, Crawford started 10 times in 11 appearances. He once again posted 15 total tackles, this time with 11 solo stops and his first TFL. Crawford had 5 passes defended, including 1 pick, as a sophomore.
