After 3 seasons at Auburn, wide receiver Ja’Varrius Johnson will look at playing elsewhere. Johnson has reportedly entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
On3’s Matt Zenitz was first with the news.

Johnson, out of Hewitt-Trussville, signed with Auburn as part of the Tigers’ 2019 recruiting. He battled injuries his first season with the program and did not see the field. In 2020, he played in just 1 game. In 2021, Johnson recorded 19 catches for 274 yards and 2 touchdowns plus 2 carries for 59 yards and a TD.
Johnson joins a long list of Auburn players to hit the portal. Nathan King of 247Sports notes that 20 Tiger players have hit the portal since the end of the 2021 regular season. Tom Green of AL.com adds that 11-of-21 signees from the 2019 class have departed the program.
Some players withdraw from the portal and rejoin the team, but Johnson is already being linked to Ole Miss.
Expecting this move, I wrote earlier today at https://t.co/7DGol0u3cr that Ole Miss might be someone to watch here. https://t.co/j7MnngynvH
