It was a rough weekend for Baker Mayfield.

The former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1 of the NFL regular season. Additionally, Mayfield’s Sooners are now 1-1 on the season after losing their Week 2 matchup a day prior. Oklahoma dropped a key prove-it game to Michigan at the Big House on Saturday.

In case that wasn’t enough, Mayfield actually suffered a third loss this past weekend. Mayfield had to address media in Michigan gear on Wednesday after losing a bet with head coach Todd Bowles, whose son Troy Bowles plays linebacker for the Wolverines.

And he had to do it as Bowles performed a rousing rendition of Michigan’s fight song, The Victors.

Brutal.

Mayfield has been out of college football for a while now. The 31-yead old found a home in Tampa Bay after understandably struggling with the Cleveland Browns past his rookie and sophomore seasons. Mayfield also played for Los Angeles and Carolina before making his way to Tampa in 2023 as Tom Brady’s replacement.

Mayfield’s 2nd season in Tampa has been his best season in the NFL thus far. He posted 4,500 yards with 41 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Tampa is set to face Mayfield’s old team on Sunday as the Bucs host the Browns at 1 p.m. ET.
