The bad publicity and general downward spiral continues for Baylor.

On Monday, KWTX.com reported thatย Baylor associate athletic directorย Heath Nielsen grabbed a sportswriter by the throat and pushed him away from a player after the Bearsโ€™ 62-22 loss to TCU.

โ€œI had asked the player if I could take a photo with him, he said โ€˜yes,โ€™โ€ย the reporter said. โ€œI was leaning back to take the photo. I heard somebody who I didnโ€™t know at this point in time yell from my right-hand side, saying โ€˜no interviews on the field.’

โ€œAbout that time they came in and tomahawk-chopped, trying to knock the phone that I had taken the picture with out of my hand,” he continued. “They were unsuccessful in trying to do that, and when they couldnโ€™t do that they came up and they grabbed my throat, and I pulled back. Whenever I looked up I saw that it was Heath Nielsen.”

Here are the photos that came after the incident:

The writer also claimed that after the attack, Nielsen told him, โ€œYouโ€™ll never f****** work in this business again. Youโ€™re abusing your privileges on the field.โ€

Nielson (and the university in general) may want to re-evaluate what “abusing” actually means.
