Photo: Baylor associate AD leaves marks on reporter’s neck after grabbing him by throat
The bad publicity and general downward spiral continues for Baylor.
On Monday, KWTX.com reported thatย Baylor associate athletic directorย Heath Nielsen grabbed a sportswriter by the throat and pushed him away from a player after the Bearsโ 62-22 loss to TCU.
โI had asked the player if I could take a photo with him, he said โyes,โโย the reporter said. โI was leaning back to take the photo. I heard somebody who I didnโt know at this point in time yell from my right-hand side, saying โno interviews on the field.’
โAbout that time they came in and tomahawk-chopped, trying to knock the phone that I had taken the picture with out of my hand,” he continued. “They were unsuccessful in trying to do that, and when they couldnโt do that they came up and they grabbed my throat, and I pulled back. Whenever I looked up I saw that it was Heath Nielsen.”
Here are the photos that came after the incident:

The writer also claimed that after the attack, Nielsen told him, โYouโll never f****** work in this business again. Youโre abusing your privileges on the field.โ
Nielson (and the university in general) may want to re-evaluate what “abusing” actually means.
