Beau Pribula made national news last year when he announced that he was transferring from Penn State. The news itself wasn’t that surprising, but rather, the timing. He left Penn State right before the Nittany Lions were getting ready to play in their first ever appearance in the College Football Playoff.

Pribula wanted to stay through the run, but how the transfer portal was set up, he had to make the decision to leave.

He decided to transfer to Missouri in large part because he would be able to compete for the job after Brady Cook graduated following a great Missouri career.

Pribula is currently battling for the starting spot for coach Eli Drinkwitz, and he talked about how the race is going.

“I think, just taking things one day at a time and being the best that you can be,” Pribula told PowerMizzou.com. “Of course, it is always iron sharpens iron to some degree. At the same time, it is really competing against yourself. If you just compare yourself to other people, it isn’t going to get you as far as trying to be the best version of yourself.”

Pribula is in a battle with Sam Horn for the quarterback position, who recently signed a contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers after being drafted by them in the 17th round. He is still set to be on the Missouri football team this upcoming season.

During his time at Penn State, Pribula played sparingly, with Drew Allar getting the majority of the snaps. The plays that Pribula did get on the field, he was used as a runner.

His playmaking ability with the ball in his hands makes him an intriguing player, and is a big reason why the Tigers brought him in. Missouri will open the season against Central Arkansas on Aug. 28, so there is still time for Pribula to show he is the guy for the job.
