Biff Poggi was disappointed in the media at the American Athletic Conference Media Day on Tuesday, and let his frustrations fly.
“That’s it, 3 questions?,” Poggi said. “Maybe that’s why you have us ranked last, that’s all that you think of us. So, we get that message, thank you.”
Poggi, in his first season at Charlotte, previously helped Michigan to the 2021 B1G championship and a berth in the College Football Playoff. He was also on Michigan’s staff as the Wolverines advanced to the 2016 Orange Bowl.
Prior to the Wolverines, Poggi led the high school football program at Saint Frances Academy to national prominence in his hometown of Baltimore. Several of his players landed scholarships with elite Power 5 programs.
Before Saint Frances Academy, Poggi led his high school alma mater, Gilman School, to 13 Maryland state titles in 19 seasons. Poggi played college football at Pitt and Duke, with coaching stops at Brown, Temple and The Citadel.
Here is the preseason media poll Poggi referred to:
1. Tulane (20) 457
2. UTSA (9) 440
3. SMU (3) 397
4. Memphis (1) 362
5. Florida Atlantic 312
6. East Carolina 303
