Biff Poggi is 1 of the most colorful characters in college football and that was on full display during his amusing segment during the Week 4 edition of ESPN’s College GameDay.
Michigan’s interim head coach mixed it up with Nick Saban, telling a hilarious story about the time he wanted to buy a Ferrari from the legend’s dealership.
“I know everyone genuflects to the greatest college football coach ever but not me. We’ve been friends for a long time. He called me 5 or 6 years ago. He goes: ‘Hey, guess what? I’ve been chosen for a Ferrari dealership,” Poggi said. “I said ‘Oh, congratulations. Let me be the first guy to be a car from you. I’ll buy the coolest car they make. The 826 super fast.’ He goes ‘Perfect, I’ll have it all set up.'”
However, Saban playfully recalled what prevented the sale.
“Here’s the problem,” Saban said “When we get right down to the transaction, you had alligator arms. You could not reach in your pocket.”
Poggi fired back with another quip.
“You should ask the Rolls dealer I just bought my car from if I have alligator arms,” Poggi said.
Pat McAfee then chimed in with a zinger about the situation.
“You lost a friend and a customer,” McAfee said.
Poggi and No. 21 Michigan heads to Nebraska in Week 4 (3:30 p.m. ET/CBS).
