Monday Night Football announcer Joe Buck is reportedly nearing a deal to host ESPN Jeopardy!, which airs this summer on Hulu and Disney+, potentially alongside linear TV such as ABC and ESPN’s streaming platforms. This comes from a report by Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports.
Buck guest-hosted Jeopardy! following Alex Trebek’s death in 2021.
Buck is a giant in the sports broadcasting industry. As mentioned above, he calls Monday Night Football and MLB Playoffs programming, and is also expected to be on call for the Super Bowl next season alongside Troy Aikman.
ESPN Jeopardy! is a spinoff of the widely popular Jeopardy! series that was hosted by the legendary Trebek until Ken Jennings took over following his death. While Jeopardy! featured ordinary joes, ESPN Jeopardy! is expected to feature celebrities and fellow ESPN talent in what is being described as “The Worldwide Leader in Sports Game Shows.”
This is not the first sports Jeopardy! spinoff attempted, either. Sports Jeopardy! was previously aired on crackle from 2014-2016, hosted by Dan Patrick.
