Bill Belichick responds to reports of potential early exit from North Carolina

The college football rumor mill was set ablaze last week when reports began surfacing that North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick and the university were negotiating a reduced buyout that would allow the 2 sides to part ways in the near future.
Carolina entered its bye week with a 2-3 record, and very few bright spots to be found, so these reports only served to fan the flames of discontent among the Tar Heel faithful in Chapel Hill.
Belichick took to the podium for a press conference on Monday to address the entire situation. According to Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger, Belichick stated that any reports of him and the university exploring a buyout last week were “categorically false.”
Dellenger also reports that the school chancellor, athletic director, and the general manager for the football team were also in attendance for the weekly presser, which seems to indicate that they are standing by their head coach in the midst of all the speculation.
Belichick might be shutting the talk about him wanting out at Carolina down in the moment, but it will be very interesting to see if that holds come season’s end.
North Carolina will play at Cal on Friday night.
