Although he is known for not revealing much information, Bill Belichick made quite a statement Sunday night after the New England Patriots’ game against the New York Giants.
Asked about deciding on a starter between Cam Newton and Mac Jones, Belichick said, “No. We still have a lot of decisions to make.”
Jones likely made it difficult on the coaching staff after he threw a touchdown and overall led 3 scoring drives in the Patriots’ 22-20 win. Jones was 10-for-14 passing for 156 yards, including a 17-yard scoring strike between 3 defenders to Isaiah Zuber. Newton was limited early in the game after he got the start and finished 2-for-5 for 10 yards with an interception. All of that was against the Giants starters.
The Patriots begin the season against Miami in New England on Sept. 12.
