Billy Napier has drawn plenty of attention in his short time at Florida for building an infrastructure not seen around Gainesville, and is a unique approach across college football, although it’s becoming more common with every hire.
During a guest appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show,” Napier explained that for success to be sustained, along with consistency and detail, it needs to have a strong foundation.
“When people think about infrastructure, it’s not just strength and conditioning and analysts,” Napier said. “We’re talking about a lot of different areas that directly affect the players and their experience here. That helps you with player development, but also helps you manage attrition on your staff.”
That infrastructure helps with promoting from with in, and balancing the workload because, “this profession can chew you up and spit you out.”
Napier said this is a program that’s capable and it’s up to him to get that potential to perform.
“Florida is a place that’s done it before and has all the potential. My job is to get it back where it’s been, and I’m waking up every morning focused on doing just that,” he said. “We’re going to try to do with integrity at the same time.”
