Week one of the 2025 college football season has finally arrived, and it’s shaping up to be a pivotal year for the Florida Gators under head coach Billy Napier.
Much of the Gators’ success will be riding on star sophomore quarterback DJ Lagway, as the former top high school prospect is viewed by many as the preseason favorite to become the nation’s top collegiate passer in his second year at the helm.
There were some concerns over Lagway and reports of a lingering injury early on in fall camp, but Napier recently put all of those worries to rest in his Monday presser, stating that his star quarterback has been full go the past few days in practice.
“DJ’s been a 100% participant here in practice for several days,” Napier said. “He’s having a lot of fun playing football and competing.”
This type of update has undoubtedly served as a massive sigh of relief for everybody in and around the Florida program, as Lagway is far and away their most important player on the roster.
It will be interesting to see how Lagway, and the rest of the team end up looking this Saturday when they kick off their 2025 season against the Long Island University Sharks down in The Swamp.
