Biting the hand that feeds you: Notre Dame trolls ACC after joining league for 2020 season

Notre Dame was in a tough position when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. What were the Irish going to do for football?

As an independent, their original schedule featured several Big Ten and Pac-12 teams, so when those leagues decided to go to conference-only schedules before ultimately choosing to postpone fall football altogether, the Irish were in a tough spot.

However, the ACC offered Notre Dame a lifeline, inviting the Irish to join their league for the 2020 season. It makes sense, as the Irish play most of their other sports as members of the ACC.

But, as you can see below, Notre Dame’s Twitter account isn’t exactly returning the love. The Irish trolled the ACC with this tweet:

Yes, the Irish will almost certainly go back to being an independent in football in 2021, but you’d think they’d be a better guest in 2020.

We’ll see if the other ACC schools take this as a challenge heading into the 2020 season.
