Spring camp has wrapped up, which means now it’s time for the long summer wait. College Football will be back in full swing just under 4 months from now.
On Wednesday, On3 Sports’ Brett McMurphy released his post-spring bowl projections, which included his prediction for the College Football Playoff. Four SEC teams cracked McMurphy’s final 12: Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia and Oklahoma.
McMurphy has 8-seed Texas A&M facing Texas Tech, 10-seed Oklahoma facing reigning national champion Indiana, 6-seed Texas against Matt Campbell’s first Penn State squad and Georgia securing a first-round bye as a 4-seed. Ohio State, Miami and Notre Dame also secured first-round byes in McMurphy’s projection.
McMurphy’s 2026 prediction is quite similar to last year’s 12-team playoff. Like last season’s bracket, McMurphy’s post-spring prediction includes Indiana, Miami, Texas Tech, Ohio State and Oregon. Matt Campbell’s first team at Penn State is also included as the 11-seed ahead of G5 representative North Dakota State.
Notably, McMurphy’s prediction does not include LSU or Ole Miss, both of which are being praised in post-spring top 25s this offseason. The Rebels return one of the top quarterbacks in the SEC while LSU looks to do some damage in Year 1 of the Lane Kiffin era.
