Brian Kelly gets crushed on sideline while trying to call a timeout vs. Florida
LSU coach Brian Kelly was involved in another sideline collision on Saturday night.
Late in the first half, LSU completed a pass to get into field goal range. With the clock running, Kelly immediately ran up the field toward an official in an attempt to call time out.
However, in doing so, Kelly accidentally ran into the path of a couple of players who were still fighting until the echo of the whistle. The result — Kelly got ran over by one of his own players who was entangled with a Florida Gator.
Here’s a look:
Kelly also had a notable sideline collision back in Week 1. He ended up falling to the ground while trying to avoid contact with an official on the sidelines. Had he made contact with the ref, it would have been a 15-yard penalty on the Tigers.
“Fifteen yards at that time of the game was crucial,” Kelly said of the moment vs. Clemson. “So I was backing up and I saw I wasn’t going to get out of the way. I headed the other way and caught my feet on somebody behind me, and I went over just to stay out of his way. So I took one for the team.”
Fortunately, Kelly appeared to be OK after getting hit on Saturday night. He was able to return to the sidelines for the end of the first half against the Gators.
