Brian Kelly has played Lane Kiffin before from their time with Notre Dame and Southern Cal. But he also has prepared this week for an Ole Miss offense this week that has developed a strong running game.

Kelly explained how it’s evolved at his Monday press conference.

“It’s an offense that has been setup obviously to force the ball outside, but they have a quarterback now that can run it so effectively now as well,” he said. “They threw the ball last year because they had a great quarterback in (Matt) Corral. This is a different quarterback. That’s what Lane does well. He’s going to set his offense based upon who the player is. It’s not about plays, it’s about players for him and he changes based upon who he has and he has a quarterback that is a real dual threat.”

Kelly, who played against Jaxson Dart when the quarterback was at Southern Cal said the QB is a “beautiful thrower of the football. He’s California, throw the football, he has all those traits. But he’s also athletic enough and can run that they’ve put him now in a system where he becomes a dual threat.”
