On Sunday night, LSU decided to part ways with head coach Brian Kelly and held a team meeting to inform the players of their decision.
According to Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger, Kelly made an appearance at the LSU team meeting and told his players, “Love y’all. Finish the season!”
Kelly’s tenure in Louisiana ended after less than 4 seasons. His official record with LSU was 34-14, and he led the LSU program to back-to-back 10-win seasons in 2022 and 2023. However, a disappointing start to the 2025 season sealed his fate.
LSU is coming off back-to-back losses to Vanderbilt and Texas A&M and currently holds a conference record of 5-3, which slots LSU into 11th in the SEC.
LSU opened the season as the preseason No. 9, and after a win against Clemson to start the season, it seemed that LSU was bound to have a great season. However, the Tigers have collapsed into a 5-3 record and still have to play Alabama, Arkansas and Oklahoma this season.
The Tigers are on a bye this upcoming weekend but will face No. 4 Alabama on Nov. 8 in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
