Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers picked up a huge win in Week 1, as they went and knocked off Clemson on the road, 17-10. This was not only a statement victory against a good opponent, but also the Tigers’ first win in season-openers in six games.

While Kelly and the Tigers had a great first weekend, Paul Finebaum had a tougher weekend as his picks Texas and Alabama lost their games. During an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show, Kelly made a joke at how Finebaum had to deal with a tough loss.

“You know me Paul, I have been on this show whether we won games or lost games,” Brian Kelly said. “You had a tough loss this weekend and you came on this show. I appreciate that. I think you and I understand in this business you have good days, and you got bad days.”

While it was only Week 1, there is no denying how big of game this was for Kelly and his team. LSU had heard the talk about the first game struggles heading into this game, and the Tigers delivered in an extremely difficult atmosphere.

The Tigers offense is expected to be among the best in the country, but it was the defense that showed up in a big way on Saturday. Clemson was able to rush the ball 19 times for only 32 yards, and LSU had Cade Klubnik uncomfortable and scrambling the entire evening.

Kelly hopes this is just the start of a magical run in Baton Rouge where he can be making more jokes this year at the expense of Finebaum. LSU will be in action in Week 2 at home against Louisiana Tech.
