Drew Lock was certainly excited to get back on the gridiron.

After a grueling NFL Draft process, Lock was looking forward to Friday’s rookie minicamp for the Broncos.

โ€œIt felt really good because you go through this whole process waiting for the moment to finally be able to step on the field with a bunch of guys and get the football in your hands and start running some plays,โ€ Lock said, via DenverPost.com. โ€œIf I (used) one word โ€” it would be โ€˜great.โ€™ It felt great to be out there.โ€

The Broncos drafted Lock in the second round (No. 42 overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Lock’s new head coach Vic Fangio was also asked about his new QB’s first day of camp. Let’s just say that Fangio isn’t going to overreact after Day 1.

โ€œNothing great one way or the other,โ€ Fangio said. โ€œHeโ€™s learning out here. I try not to make any big-value judgments here early.โ€

Unlike Fangio, however, fellow second-round pick Dalton Risner wasn’t afraid to say he was impressed.

โ€œHe did great,โ€ Risner said. โ€œYou would never have thought it was Day 1 for him. Of course, he has things to work on like everyone does out there. But thatโ€™s something Drew brings to the table โ€” heโ€™s not going to be a quarterback whoโ€™s hesitant or has trouble doing something like that in the huddle.โ€
