Bruce Pearl takes aim at Alabama after ‘Gus Bus’ leads Florida State to upset victory
We knew there would be plenty of funny reactions to Florida State’s 31-17 victory over Alabama on Saturday. Turns out, Gus Malzahn walked so Bruce Pearl could run… or drive, rather.
Shortly after the Seminoles polished off their win, Pearl released a beautiful cartoon image of Malzahn — owner and operator of the “Gus Bus” — driving his namesake vehicle over the Crimson Tide mascot. Unsurprisingly, Auburn fans thoroughly enjoyed Pearl’s antics.
Pearl has never shied away from the spotlight in his professional career. He is tremendous at acclimating himself to his community and building camaraderie with his fanbase, wherever he may be employed. There’s no better way to continue doing that at Auburn than by trolling Alabama… except going shirtless in the student section.
Auburn started off its season in much better fashion than its top rival. The Tigers went on the road and beat Baylor 38-24 on Friday night. Ironically, they followed a script similar to the one Florida State employed versus Alabama. Hugh Freeze’s bunch posted 308 rushing yards and attempted only 17 passes against the Bears.
After the win on Friday, Auburn has a great opportunity to build momentum for SEC play. The Tigers host Ball State and South Alabama the next two weeks before traveling to Norman for a matchup with Oklahoma.
