Bryan Harsin is one of the most talked about head coaches entering the 2022 season.

During a College GameDay on Saturday morning, ESPN analyst and insider Pete Thamel weighed in on the chances Harsin will return to Auburn for the 2023 season.

โ€œThe pathway to Bryan Harsin to survive is difficult,โ€ Thamel said on College GameDay. โ€œHe plays in the SEC West. Auburnโ€™s roster isnโ€™t what we remember Auburnโ€™s roster being right now. Coming off a 6-7 season, I think itโ€™s really important to remember they had the No. 13 ranked recruiting class in the SEC right now in the Composite Rankings โ€“ only ahead of Missouri.

โ€œSo, as Auburnโ€™s power brokers look at Bryan Harsinโ€™s future โ€” in a time where Alabama usually has a top 3 class โ€” that is going to stand out. Those same power brokers initiated an inquiry against him in February didnโ€™t yield any other results. โ€ฆ They were essentially looking for a reason to fire him with cause. So, itโ€™s been an awkward union that everyone expects to end somehow at the end of this season. Unless of course, they get hot and go 10-2 and beat Alabama.โ€

During the segment, College GameDay made a simple mistake on its graphic, saying Harsin was the coach of Nebraska. Well, Harsin saw the segment, and he reacted with a tweet.

Auburn opens the 2022 season next Saturday against Mercer at 7 p.m.
