Buzz Williams previews first NCAA Tournament appearance of Texas A&M tenure
Buzz Williams spoke at a press conference on Tuesday about Texas A&M hoops’ upcoming NCAA Tournament meeting with Penn State. Williams answered a number of questions about the game.
Williams will be competing in his first NCAA Tournament since taking over at College Station in 2019. When asked about what that will be like, Williams stated that he is more so focusing on what it means for the entire team.
โReally happy for all of us. Itโs the greatest tournament in any sporting event in my opinion,” said Williams. “I donโt really think of it for myself, I know I have a part. Just for everybody, itโs really cool.โ
Williams admitted that there is a level of uncertainty that comes with facing a team you haven’t seen before like with Penn State.
โThis is the first time that weโve played a team that we donโt know about since late December. Thereโs a newness of: โI donโt know you and what ever Iโve learned was in a very short period of time.โ We use the words discipline and stamina in our program. Thereโs a level of mental stamina or toughness that for sure comes into play.โ
The Aggies and Nittany Lions face each other Thursday at 9:55 p.m. ET on TBS.
