BYU wasn’t going away in Saturday’s Holy War showdown against Utah, and it had the names to show for it.

Want names?

How about quarterback Bear Bachmeier and wide receiver Legend Glasker?

A “Bear” and a “Legend” helped get the 9th-ranked Cougars right back into the massive top-10 showdown against the 3rd-ranked Utes with a 75-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter.

After BYU had chipped away from a potentially devastating 14-0 deficit so early in Saturday’s game in Salt Lake City, a few field goals got the Cougars closer, and then this hookup between the guys with the, shall we say, different first names really got BYU back in the ballgame:

It was a perfectly executed play between the sophomore quarterback and freshman wide receiver, and with the extra point it brought BYU within 14-13 after the Cougars faced that early 2-touchdown hole.

Bachmeier wasn’t touched as he dropped back to pass on the first and, as it turned out, the last play of the drive, as BYU took over as its own 25-yard line after forcing a 3-and-out by Utah. The Cougars had already seized some of the momentum back on their previous possession with a second field goal to get within 14-6, and then after the punt, things really got crazy with the “Bear-to-Legend” connection.

BYU was back within with a point, and the Cougars would soon after take a 20-14 lead, scoring 20 unanswered points after Utah had seemingly stolen everything the Holy War had to offer with that quick 14-0 lead.

It was going to be a long afternoon in Salt Lake City, likely a dramatic one and likely with those cool first names on the BYU side playing a big factor.
