CBS Sports analyst explains what LSU-Alabama game could mean for each team’s Playoff hopes

LSU and Alabama both have an open week before facing each other at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Nov. 7.
That one could, for all intents and purposes, be a College Football Playoff elimination contest.
Both the Tigers and the Crimson Tide have two losses. For CBS Sports college football analyst Brad Crawford, it will be incredibly difficult, if not impossible, for the loser of Week 10’s meeting in Tuscaloosa to make the 12-team field.
“I think the loser of that game between the Tigers and Crimson Tide finishes 9-3 and does not make the CFP bracket,” Crawford said on Sunday.

Missing the Playoff certainly isn’t what Lane Kiffin signed up for when he left Ole Miss for LSU. Yet that could be the reality with a loss to the Tide.
“LSU does not have a resume. It lost to Ole Miss. It beat Mississippi State, who’s no longer ranked. It lost to Kentucky. LSU does not have a ranked win right now if we’re looking at the current AP poll. And I don’t think it’s going to be having a ranked win in the CFP rankings either,” Crawford said.
While the Tigers’ resume may not be very impressive, the same can be said for the Tide, Crawford noted.
“Alabama’s another team (with) one ranked win right now. That came back on week two against Kentucky, who was unranked at the time,” he said.
After Alabama, LSU has two remaining games against ranked opponents: Texas and Tennessee. Alabama has no ranked opponents left on its schedule after LSU.
