The CBS Sports HQ team spent time Saturday morning analyzing Texas A&M’s chances to win the College Football Playoff prior to the third-ranked Aggies’ test at No. 22 Missouri (3:30 pm ET, ABC).

“Yes, absolutely,” said analyst Danny Kanell when asked if Texas A&M can run the CFP table. “I think there are a lot of teams that can win this thing. As good as Ohio State and Indiana have been, I do think there is a question of ‘who really has tested them?’ … There is a wide-open field, and Texas A&M has a quarterback (Marcel Reed) who is more than capable of getting it done, a run game that can run through teams and a defense that Mike Elko has headed now that is one of the best in the country.”

Analyst Damien Harris agreed about Reed – who has passed for 1,972 yards and 17 touchdowns and rushed for 349 yards and 6 more scores.

“I know comparison is the thief of joy, but when I watch (Reed) play, I see a little tick of Jayden Daniels, a small, small tick of Lamar Jackson… he has the game-breaking, play-making ability,” Haris said. “When you have a quarterback that plays at a high level, it doesn’t matter how we see him or what his stats are. If he goes into a game and plays well, it automatically increases his chances of winning.”

The undefeated Aggies face Mizzou on Saturday afternoon.
