CBS Sports has announced the coaches of the week in every conference after Week 9 of the college football season. In the SEC, there were multiple teams that got huge road wins last Saturday.
However, when it came down to it, no team was more impressive than Texas A&M, and Mike Elko was recognized for the Aggies’ 49-25 comeback victory against LSU.
The Aggies were trailing LSU 18-14 at the half, but a big reason for that was self-induced mistakes by the team. Marcel Reed threw two first-half interceptions, and the Aggies gave up two points on a blocked kick. However, Elko and his staff made the adjustments at the half, and what ensued was arguably the most dominant half by any team this season.
Before Elko got to College Station, Texas A&M was stuck in a seven or eight-win season. However, the Aggies appear to be on their way to new heights. They are currently 8-0 entering their bye, and are a legitimate contender to win both the SEC as well as the College Football Playoff.
Elko and his team will be back in action on November 8 when they travel to Columbia to take on the Missouri Tigers.
