CBS Sports Network panel makes national championship picks

With Week 0 upon us, it’s the time of year when national championship picks arrive, and the CBS Sports Network panel completed the task.
Danny Kanell, Kevin Carter and Brian Jones all submitted their picks.
“Bama,” Kanell said. “Best offensive player in Bryce Young, best defensive player in Will Anderson Jr. and the best coach, give it to the Tide.”
Carter said, “If it hadn’t been for John Metchie and Jameson Williams getting hurt in that national championship game, who knows.”
Brian Jones took a different path, and went Ohio State.
“Offensive firepower and a new DC who’s one of the best in the biz overseeing a plethora of talent,” he said.

The panel largely took the chalk as most betting odds have both of those teams at the top, along with Georgia as a No. 3 team. Clemson typically enters the picture at No. 4, but then there’s a steep decline as several dark horse programs enter the fray, from Southern Cal to Texas A&M.
