CBS Sports has come out with its coaches of the week for the conferences in college football after an exciting Week 3. From the SEC, they couldn’t decide between one, as they named both Ole Miss coach Pete Golding and Kentucky coach Will Stein as co-head coaches of the week after both their programs picked up impressive victories.
Ole Miss won the biggest game of the week (year?) as the Rebels won 32-24 against LSU in the return game for Lane Kiffin. Golding was the defensive coordinator for Kiffin and became head coach after he left for LSU. The game had as much hype as any in recent memory in college football, but Golding did a fantastic job of having his team ready to go, and then composed at the end to get the win.
Will Stein and Kentucky had an equally as impressive win, as the Wildcats beat then No. 9 Texas A&M in College Station. The win was Kentucky’s first road victory against a top-10 team since the Wildcats beat Penn State in 1977.
Stein came to Kentucky after a stint as the offensive coordinator at Oregon and has quickly turned the culture around in Lexington. He has delivered on everything that he said he would do, and so far, things are on the right track for the Wildcats.
