Center Racin Delgatty downgraded to out for Alabama’s showdown at Tennessee
Center Racin Delgatty was downgraded to out on the Friday night SEC injury report for Saturday afternoon’s showdown at No. 14 Tennessee (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC).
The high-profile transfer from Cal Poly who won the Alabama starting center job in fall camp has helped anchor the Tide’s offensive line during the first half of his first season in Tuscaloosa. But Delgatty suffered a knee injury on the final offensive play of Bama’s heartbreaking loss to Georgia last week, and the effects of the injury have apparently gotten the best of the center, at least as far as Week 7 is concerned.
When the third SEC availability report for this week was released on Friday night, Delgatty’s designation was downgraded, leaving Bama without a huge piece of its offensive structure against the rival Volunteers.
Without its starting center, No. 6 Alabama could be set to turn to sophomore Mal Waldrep Jr. to replace Delgatty at the center position on Saturday.
The Crimson Tide will also be without star wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams against the Vols, and tight end Josh Ford was added to Friday’s injury report. Ford is listed as questionable.
There is some hope though about Ford, because he was listed as questionable last week leading up to the Georgia game after breaking his arm but ended up playing against the Bulldogs.
Without Delgatty, Bama’s challenge in the trenches just got a lot harder on Saturday in Knoxville. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the Crimson Tide’s chances to overcome its key absences in Week 7 and still rebound with a victory:
