Ohio and Georgia Southern traded blows on the football field, but not in the way one would think.

A fight broke out between the two teams during the Myrtle Beach Bowl on Saturday. It happened after the holder for Georgia Southern tried to fight Ohio players following an extra point. Multiple players got involved after that, which led to flags being thrown by the officials.

Ohio cornerback Justin Birchette was later ejected after making contact with an official during the scuffle. A referee tried to grab Birchette’s arm and the Bobcat player resisted.

Tempers sometimes flare in the game of college football. The Myrtle Beach Bowl didn’t disappoint in that regard.

Ohio finished the regular season at 9-3, but didn’t reach the MAC Championship. Miami (OH) ended up winning the conference after beating Toledo on Dec. 2.

Georgia Southern reached its 2nd bowl in a row after winning 6 games in 2023.
