In what feels like almost a must-win game for Brent Venables and Oklahoma, the Sooners will be starting with a hand tied behind their backs before the ball is even kicked off in Dallas.

Texas‘ intimidating pass-rush, spearheaded by veteran EDGE Colin Simmons, is well-documented as one of the best in the nation, and the Longhorns’ front seven will likely have an even better chance at teeing off on John Matter due to an opposing injury.

According to reports from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Oklahoma star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi isn’t considered likely to play in the Red River Rivalry Game on Saturday, as he’s still recovering from a shoulder injury suffered during the team’s season-opener against UTEP.

And on the SEC’s initial injury reports Wednesday night, Fasusi was listed as doubtful.

Without Fasusi thus far, the Oklahoma offensive line has mostly done well to keep Matter upright, having allowed only 9 sacks through 4 games. However, that number can be deceiving, because 6 of those occurred during OU’s two games against Power 4 opponents this season (Michigan, Georgia), and Texas’ front seven is fresh off a dominant performance against Tennessee.

The Sooners and Longhorns are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET, with the game being broadcast by ABC.
