Chad Morris announces sophomore receiver Mike Woods will be out for the rest of spring football
Chad Morris met with the media on Tuesday to discuss the progress of his team as they near the conclusion of spring football in Fayetteville and while the Razorback coach was mostly pleased with the progress his team continues to make, he did have some unfortunate news to share during his most recent media availability.
One of the team’s rising sophomore players is out for the time being due to an injury.
“Mike Woods had surgery on his wrist and is out for the spring,” Morris revealed on Tuesday.
During his first season on campus, Woods caught 18 passes for 206 yards and one touchdown. While he may not have made a huge impact in his first year on campus, Woods is being counted on to be among the team’s most improved players heading into his second year in the program. According to Morris, the injury may have really set back the young skill player.
“It’s disappointing that Mike Woods is not going to be — he needed spring. He really needed this, he was having an outstanding spring,” Morris said.
While the news on Woods isn’t great, Morris continues to be impressed with true freshman and early enrollee receiver Trey Knox. One of the highest-rated signees in Arkansas’ touted 2019 signing class, Knox is clearly living up to the hype early on The Hill.
“Trey Knox continues to be a really pleasant addition to our football team. Made some really good plays today out there,” Morris continued. “He has to learn to play when he’s tired but that happens with a lot of the young guys.”
